Kia ora. Welcome to our quick and easy guide to getting started as an Inspiring the Future role model. Your small commitment can have a big impact on tamariki so we're excited that you'd like to join us.
Firstly click on the blue sign up button in the top right hand corner on any page of the Inspiring the Future website, then click on 'Sign up as a role model'.
Now it's time to enter your basic details and create a password.
You'll need to accept the terms and conditions and then click on the blue button to sign up.
Once you've done that you'll receive a verification email. All you need to do is open the email and click on the link. If you can't find the email check your spam and other folders just in case. The email will be from no-reply@inspiringthefuture.org.nz. If you still don't see it you can go back to the website and request the verification email to be resent.
Now you're ready to sign in and complete your profile and share some details about your journey. This includes basic information like your age group and a profile picture so schools can get a good idea of who you are. You can also provide details about what you currently do and why you want to be a role model.
The last step is a criminal record check. If you do have a criminal conviction it doesn't necessarily mean you can't become an Inspiring the Future role model. We need people from all walks of life to share their story but we also need to keep our tamariki safe. You'll get an email with information on how to complete the check, it takes about three days and you'll receive a copy of your record when it's complete.
After that's done your profile becomes live on our secure platform.
Schools can log in and view your profile and those of other role models too. Here schools can create events and invite you to join them directly from the platform.
It's absolutely fine if you don't complete your profile or criminal record check in one session, you can save your progress and log in at any time to add more details to your profile.
Once you're all signed up you'll have access to useful resources, including a guide for role models as well as a video with handy tips and tricks from other role models. It's that easy.
